Welcome to the Only Influencers Blog. Only influencers is an idea that I have had rattling around in the back of my mind for some time now. Over 8 years ago I started a list for digital marketers called The One Hundred Club and 6 years ago I started The Inbox Insiders. Both lists were predicated on the notion that there was a need for a curated, invitation only discussion list. And the success of both of those lists as the place where real discussion about our industry happen: behind closed doors, in a safe haven. That tradition carries on with Only Influencers which takes the place of those other lists, morphing them into something bigger and better, and not available any place else. What is Only Influencers? Only Influencers is Fight Club.
The first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club. In a way, that is the motto for Only Influencers. You can only get on Only Influencers if you are invited by someone you know who is already on the list. And there is only one rule of Only Influencers: what is said on the list, stays on the list. It is a closed network so people can discuss, argue, fight, and come to meaningful conclusions far away from the public eye. What kind of conclusions: well for one, it was discussions on the Inbox Insiders that led to the formation of the Email Experience Council, now run by the DMA.
But closed door sessions can't be truly effective if the best work of these great minds is not made public. That is the purpose of this blog: to write about the discussions and issues that seem most beneficial to moving the industry forward and disseminating that information to the broader world. It is your peak behind the curtain so to speak.
Only Influencers represents my 5th company (Quartet, Rich Media Sig, Emerging Interest, Email Data Source, and now Only Influencers) and the start of my 11th year as a full time entrepreneur. I hope you'll come along for the ride. I hope you will become an Influencer yourself. And I hope that Only Influencers will have a lasting effect on the history and future of digital marketing.
