Email Campaign Feedback and Approval Tools

I’m working on a feedback and approval tool for email campaigns and I wanted to get an idea of the type of tools that you are currently using for feedback, approval and proofing (not client testing ala Litmus) among stakeholders.

Hi folks,

I’m working on a feedback and approval tool for email campaigns and I wanted to get an idea of the type of tools that you are currently using for feedback, approval and proofing (not client testing ala Litmus) among stakeholders.

From what I have discovered most folks are still emailing their proofs around (either as html or images) and some are using tools such as ProofHQ, RoboHead, Dropbox and LayerVault.

I’d love to hear about other tools out there and if you feel that your current setup is adequate.

I’m also interested in interviewing email marketers to get a better idea on your workflow (whether its working well or not). If you don’t mind spending a few moments, I’d really appreciate having a brief chat over email or phone.

Thank you!

Happy to help.  This is a great area to focus on and a big gap in process for most.  Most recently I did a review on both process management (traffic) tools and content proofing and approving tools.  We ended up with At Task at the enterprise level which embeds ProoferHQ (which rocks) and was really good to use.For the various levels in marketplace there are a few tools to look for.good luck

Hi Justin, I ran a web agency for about 10 years and actually built and launched a software tool like this.
What we found is that the bigger organizations/clients needed and used the big tools like https://layervault.com/.
The smaller organizations (which we were targeting) found that simple email was good enough.
They would try tools like ours for a while but then slip back to email.
I have seen many similar competing products launch over the years, some very good, and they all eventually disappeared.Alan

Alan,

When you mention “big tools” are you referring to tools that cover the whole creative gamut (more than just email) or that they serve more than just proofing?
I’d be curious to get your thoughts on the various tools in this space that came out and didn’t make it.

Hi Justin, by big tools I mean tools designed to allow many levels of stakeholders and revisions of designs.
Design could be for email, web, print or video.
One of the bigger profile ones that started the same time as us was Get Sign Off. Paul Boag had a big profile and platform in the design community at the time but the market was just not there.
He did a writeup here: http://boagworld.com/digital-strategy/say-goodbye-to-get-sign-off/
https://layervault.com started around about the same time but targeted more enterprise customers.
One of the more recent ones i noticed retire was https://onotate.com/Do a search on http://www.producthunt.com/ and you will find others trying it now.

Adestra has an approval system built into the UI, info here: http://www.adestra.com/products/approval-system/

We built an approval/moderation system into Email Playground.  Ping me off list if you would like to know more
